MRI assessment of myocardial global function by tei index - a comparison to echocardiographic tei index
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction The Tei index is an echocardiographic measure of global ventricular function, calculated as ((isovolumic contraction time) + (isovolumic relaxation time)) / (ejection time). This may be calculated as ((time of atrioventricular valve closure) (time of arterial valve closure)) / (time of arterial valve closure). Used as a measure of systolic as well as diastolic function, the Tei index has been validated for use in the left heart and right heart, in normal patients and those with a variety of pathologies. Measures of systolic and diastolic function by MRI, with few exceptions, are not directly comparable to echocardiographic measures.

Background: Tetralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease. The systolic and diastolic function in both ventricles is altered even after successful corrective surgery for this defect with a transannular patch. Pulmonary regurgitation, a common complication after this treatment, is usually well tolerated in childhood. The aim of this study was to assess the combined dia...
متن کاملEvaluation of Advanced Echocardiographic Parameters of Right Ventricular in Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension
Background and Objective: Pulmonary hypertension is an increase in blood pressure of the pulmonary artery which leads to right ventricular dysfunction. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare echocardiographic parameters in the study of right ventricular failure in patients with pulmonary hypertension. Materials and Methods: In the present descriptive cross-sectional study, data were col...
متن کاملTei Index Obtained from Tissue Doppler Imaging: Correlation with Ntprobnp Levels in Patients with Dilated Cardiomiopathy
The myocardial performance index (Tei index) determined by the pulsed Doppler is a simple and noninvasive measurement for assessing global left ventricular (LV) function. This index can also be obtained by tissue Doppler imaging (Tei-TDI). The purpose of our study was to assess the relationship between Tei-TDI and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NTproBNP) levels in patients with dilat...
متن کاملThe effects of changes in loading conditions and modulation of inotropic state on the myocardial performance index: comparison with conductance catheter measurements.
AIM The myocardial performance index (MPI), or Tei index, has been shown to be useful in the assessment of global myocardial performance. There are few invasive data however, which examine its load dependence or sensitivity to acute changes in contractile function. The purpose of this study was therefore to study formally the effect of clinically relevant changes in these parameters in an anima...
متن کاملMyocardial Performance after Successful Liver Transplantation
BACKGROUND Myocardial performance index (MPI) or Tei index is a Doppler-derived index of combined systolic and diastolic myocardial function, calculated as the sum of isovolumetric relaxation time (IRT) and isovolumetric contraction time (ICT) divided by the ejection time (ET). OBJECTIVE To evaluate the right and left ventricular systolic and diastolic function using MPI in children before an...
